Do we really need to make such a big deal....my 13 year old son can see more on regular tv channels. Like the old saying goes...Don't like it...Don't look! Too much is being made of this...our City Symbol should be offensive then! - correction to my last rmark...our STATE emblem set in 1930 should be offensive if the add for a clothing store is considered offensive! Sherry, VA Beach

-Virginia Beach in the national news again? People around here "crack" me up. Pun intended. I'm off to the mall to shake the Abercrombie and Fitch manager's hand and buy some clothes with my tax rebate. Tim, VA Beach

-Why all this hoopla about the obscene ad for Abercrombie & Fitch - I make sure I always walk WAY around the Victoria's Secret stores when I'm with my children - talk about obscene!!!! Kathy, Kill Devil Hills NC

-Did you know that VA Beach police walked into Lynnhaven Mall and confiscated the store front marketing at Abercrombie & Fitch? They also demanded that 2 other photos be taken down.

O 26 Christmas trees! A houseful

David Blair has 26 decorated Christmas trees inside his two-bedroom home in Los Angeles' Studio City neighborhood. Still, he's used fewer than half of the 10,000 ornaments in his burgeoning collection, which now overflows his closets, garage and rented storage space.

"There are trees in every room, even the kitchen and bath. It's kind of an obsession," he cheerfully admits.

Step through Blair's front door and you're awash in the cozy glow of this year's fantasy: a 30-foot-long living room that feels uncluttered despite its seven trees, each with a different theme.

His "antique tree" is tall and full-bodied, all its ornaments family heirlooms or vintage finds gathered over years. A spun-glass butterfly from the 1920s is one favorite. A blown-glass bunny with an expressive painted face, from 1930s Germany, is another.

When the Bop Gun Jams

I'm sitting in the Hut, a tiny converted garage perched behind a house in dire need of a few more slices of vinyl siding, with the illest ad hoc catwalk you'd ever want to cannonball off looming over a circular, aboveground pool. From the outside, it's a drab affair; but inside, the Hut is a makeshift, chaotically beautiful two-room recording studio, the pride of Plainfield, New Jersey—better known to residents as Queen City.

Stacks of music paraphernalia and debris both clutter and fortify this weakly lit mini-museum: 45s, analog compressors, turntables, keyboards, reel-to-reel machines, and . . . wait, is that a Commodore 64 on the floor? Then there are all the faces. A mishmashed tapestry of photos stapled to the walls creates a surreal timeline of rhythm and blues and hairdos, promo pics of black starlets, doo-wop groups, and psychedelic slingers sportin' smiles and 'dos from the pin curl to the jheri curl.

Haley Ham Needs Your Help: Antifreeze Bill In TN Legislature

Haley Ham from Sevierville, Tennessee needs your help. Last year Haley's dog, Sam, was poisoned intentionally by someone who used antifreeze. Haley, who is 11 years old, was devastated and has worked very hard to keep others from suffering Sam's fate. Haley collected 1,100 signatures to petition the Tennessee Legislature to pass a law requiring the antifreeze companies to add a bittering agent. Haley was on the hill in Nashville Tuesday to tell lawmakers her and Sam's story. The bill, HB2008, is being sponsored by Janis Sontany of Nashville. The bill has already been passed by the full Senate ( SB2399), which was sponsored by Raymond Finney of Maryville. Unfortunately, it was delayed in the House for 2 weeks. The reason for the delay sights that further studies need to be done on environmental impact.
